I’m staring at this graph for 15 minutes now. It is *obvious* that there is no way the targets of the Paris Agreement will be met. We are to late to ever go back to a “normal” planet🌍 hausfath/1309206537999585280

My two children, like many millions more, will have to live with the consequences of what previous generations failed to tackle early enough. And I am mad as hell at anyone who was and still is trying to manipulate public opinion in the interests of big oil.

They knew and they decided to lie about it. This influenced the whole debate in newspapers and TV so that the true scale of the disaster we are heading into was still not on everyone’s radar in the early 2010s!

I am still talking to people at times who believe that all of this is only fear mongering. No! Global warming is real. All scientists agree. We can already see the dire consequences. It is even happening faster than expected. And it will hit the poorest hardest.

Ranting about it on Twitter obviously isn’t enough. I know that. And I feel like I could and should do so much more. I am thinking a lot about how to contribute to a solution besides ditching our combustion engine car and gas heating.

Still: It is also important that we talk about this crisis. That we don’t fall into despair but call things as they are. We need solutions fast and we have to vote for those who will actually work on solutions *now*.

I will collect a few resources about climate change over the next days and write a post about it, I think. Because there are already a lot of good things happening and it is important to tell those stories, too. 💚
