I had suggested the use of scrset instead of dowloading all (!) images via JS all over again on reload or viewport changes…

But: Both srcset and the picture element are part of the official HTML specification. Browser support is good. A polyfill exists …

… and <img> as a fallback. So we indeed have a standardized, progressively enhanced solution for responsive images now. Why not just use it?
